Favorite Protein Shake: Mocha Peanut Butter Protein 2

I’ve been really getting into drinking protein shakes every day, usually on the way to work.  It’s so convenient and I usually don’t have much of an appetite in the morning.  I prefer to drink my breakfast first thing in the morning!  Plus, I’m lazy in the AM, so a shake is perf. I go back and forth on drinking caffeine and not drinking caffeiene and right now I’m totally in lustful caffeine mode.  Bring me all the coffee and Diet Dr. Pepper!  When I was nursing baby boy, I avoided caffeine, but I weaned about a month ago, so time to party, right! Thoughts at 37.5 Weeks 1

So, here we are.  I’m “full-term” according to some doctors and websites.  I could give birth any day over the next several weeks!  Here are some updates in bullet format: One of our dear friends lost their baby late last week.  She was 36 weeks pregnant – due just 3 days after I’m due.  This would have been their fifth child.  The news was a shock to everyone, obviously, and it made me appreciate the aches and pains of pregnancy a little bit more.  I can’t imagine what they must be going through but they seem to be taking it better than I would.  Life is precious. Tying balloons with tulle is so much prettier than regular ribbon.  Love it! Reminding myself to take out my fall decorations in a couple of weeks – these spray painted pumpkins are one of my favorite cheap and easy projects! Speaking of fall, I would love to carve our pumpkins this fall using a drill.  I love the result. 10 Years of Running 2

It occurred to me the other day that I’ve been running for exercise for at least 10 years now! I started running during my sophomore year of college to shed the gross “freshman 15”.  Although, in my case, it was probably more like the freshman 20 … or more. At first, I ran just a mile at a time.  The only running I’d ever done before were those mile-long runs they made you do in elementary school.  Ugh.  Do you remember those mile-run days?? Working Out Over Lunch 1

Earlier this year, my husband and I cancelled our gym membership and created a small home gym in our basement instead.  It’s convenient, but I still hate coming home after a long day and working out in the basement (or getting up at 5:30 am like my husband – gross!). Enter our gym at work.  It makes life sooooooo much easier.  Plus, it’s got all the equipment I need AND it’s free.  Score. Best Floor Mats For A Home Gym + Basement Gym Updates 29

(Update! It’s now been 2 years since writing this post and we are still using the horse stall mats in our home gym daily and they look brand-new.  They have stood up to jumping, sweat, dog hair, weights being dropped on them repeatedly and more and are still like new!  Can’t recommend these horse stall mats as the best home gym flooring enough…they are half the cost, sturdy, DO NOT slide around and are large (cover more space with less money).  Please let me know if you have any questions!  On to the original post…) I’m not sure if I’ve ever shown a picture of our basement/home gym on the blog before, so today is your lucky day.  Not only will I show you our […]

OMG I Have A Yoga Room 2

So, we have 3 unused bedroom upstairs.  We use our master bedroom, 2 of the rooms have our old queen beds in them, and the last room sits empty.  We usually end up throwing random projects in the empty room, as seen here: The other day I was working out in our basement and wishing I had a place to stretch and do yoga. Getting Back In Shape 2

So as I mentioned in my New Year’s resolutions post, I’m getting back in shape for the new year!  I’ve been pretty active for many years, but really started to loose focus after buying our house.  We got into bad habits of eating out too much and drinking more wine and beer with dinner during the week.
